The cocoa bean has transformed Ghana as one of the biggest foreign income earner. But what happens to the farmers who grow the cocoa bean? Often times, they are marginalized with levels of poverty that  are not in tandem with the important role they play to the wellbeing of the country.

To address this imbalance, Fair trade supported local cooperatives through a number of development projects. Because of this, farmers in given communities now have access to safe drinking water,  good schools, and a sustainable livelihood. Lema Concepts spent a number of weeks in a few of the communities to document the transformation that has happened because of the work of fair trade.
